BAHS opens with 8-0 loss to Edmond Memorial

EMHS beat the Tigers in last year's season opener

BROKEN ARROW - In 2007, Edmond Memorial High School run-ruled Broken Arrow in the baseball
season opener for both schools.

Two months later, EMHS was the Class 6A state runner-up to Owasso, which had eliminated the
Tigers just one day earlier in pool play.

One year to the day - the last time BAHS and the Bulldogs played - Edmond Memorial opened this
season with another victory over the Tigers.

The Bulldogs banged out 10 hits and parlayed five BAHS errors into an 8-0 triumph on a warm,
windy Saturday afternoon at Tiger Field.

This time, the game was played the entire seven innings.

EMHS had its eight-run lead after five innings. After Broken Arrow's third out in the fifth, a number of
fans began to pack their gear before realizing the game was going to be played out.

Joe Lassiter, Alex Hill and Aaron Trent  each had two hits off three BAHS pitchers.

Meanwhile, Forsyth and Lassiter combined on the two-hit shutout.

Broken Arrow's only two hits were doubles by Cale Replogle in the first and third innings off starter
Forsyth.

Tiger starter and loser Morgan Croft gave up seven hits and five runs - only two earned - over the
first three innings.

Croft worked into the fourth but three Tiger errors chased the junior right-hander.

First reliever Taylor Ferguson wiggled out of a bases loaded jam but surrendered three earn runs
in the fifth.

Forsyth struckout five and walked four over the first five innings.

Croft, Ferguson and Sam Moses combined for eight strikeouts and four walks.

BAHS hosts Cascia Hall Monday at 4:30 p.m. and travels to Stillwater Tuesday.

Unearned runs lift Enid over Tigers, 2-0
By: Doug Quinn, Sports Editor

Loss overshadows nine-strikeout
effort by BAHS's Ferguson

It "only takes one" is a common
baseball phrase.

For Broken Arrow High School
baseball, it was two - a pair of errors
for two unearned runs - that were the
difference.

On Saturday, Enid took advantage of
untimely BAHS miscues for a 2-0
victory at Tiger Field.

Enid pushed across its only runs after
errors in the fourth and fifth innings
that kept the Tigers winless - and
scoreless - through their first
two games.

The loss overshadowed a gallant
effort by BAHS left-hander Taylor
Ferguson.

A senior, Ferguson held the
Plainsmen (1-0) to two hits while
striking out nine with just one walk.

Ferguson, a transfer from Muskogee, had a perfect game through 3.2 innings.

Then, an error by first baseman Josh Moses allowed Enid's Dylan Nave to reach.

Zac Gonzalez followed with a double that scored Nave from first base.

In the fifth, Ferguson walked John Dillingham with one out. On a pickoff attempt, Ferguson's
throw was wild and Dillingham raced to third base.

Alex Wilson's sacrifice fly plated Dillingham for Enid's second run.

Broken Arrow had chances early to rock Enid starter Tobin Mateychick but didn't, stranding
seven runners in the first three innings.

The Tigers left the bases loaded in the first and hit into a inning-ending double play in the
second.

BAHS had runners picked off in the fourth and sixth innings and hit into a doubleplay in the
seventh.

Ferguson, in going the distance, struck out nine, walked one and allowed Enid only two hits.

Mateychick lasted two pitches into the sixth inning before Dillingham was summoned.

Mateychick gave up three hits while walking six and fanning just one.

Homers by Barnett, Replogle and Moody propel BAHS to first win

MUSKOGEE - Broken Arrow High School is scoreless no more.

After being shutout in the first two games, the Tigers had a run-scoring fest Monday.

Behind home runs from Spencer Barnett, Cale Replogle and Wes Moody, BAHS pounded out 18
hits and run-ruled Muskogee, 21-4, in a Frontier Valley Conference game.

"This sure feels a lot better," Tiger assistant coach John Martin said.

Brett Zigler tossed a seven-hitter - three of those homers - with three strikeouts and two walks in
the five-inning affair.

Barnett belted a two-run homer in the first, Replogle had a three-run blast and Moody a
three-run shot in the fourth.

Mike Samuel and Taylor Estes each had three hits for the Tigers.

The game marked the return of senior catcher-pitcher Lance Rymel, who missed the first two
games with a wrist injury.

BAHS (1-2) plays a non-conference game Thursday at 4:30 p.m. at Tulsa Memorial before
embarking on its spring break trip to Glendale, Ariz.

BAHS wins second straight, evens record at 2-2

Broken Arrow High School coach Shannon Dobson
anticipated a low scoring game Thursday.

And, he got it.

The Tigers fended off Tulsa Memorial, 3-2, in a pitcher's
duel between BAHS's Taylor Ferguson and Charger
junior Jon Reed at LaFortune Park.

Ferguson, a senior left-hander, had a shut out for
six and two-thirds innings but earned his first victory
in two starts.

A throwing error allowed Memorial (3-2) its only runs.

Ferguson (1-1) survived the mistake and struckout
Daniel Mason to win the game.

It was the second straight win and leveled BAHS's
record at 2-2 before playing five games next week
in Glendale, Ariz.

"Fergy did a good job and gave us a chance to win," Dobson said.

Ferguson bested the hard-throwing Reed, who Dobson called "one of the best pitchers in the state."

Reed fanned 10 Tigers, walked three on six hits.

BAHS?scored all three runs in the fourth inning "on timely hitting."

Wes Moody's two out single scored Cale Replogle, who had singled and J.D. Wood, who had
walked, to snap the scoreless standoff.

Moody then scored on a single by Brett Ziegler.

Ferguson dodged trouble the last three innings to finish with 10 strikeouts and just one walk on four
hits.

The Tiger hurler recorded two outs in the fifth, sixth and seventh innings before Memorial put a
runner on base.

In the seventh, Ferguson fanned the first two batters before hitting a batter and giving up a bloop
single. Both runners scored on BAHS's lone error.

In a 2-0 loss Saturday to Enid last Saturday, Ferguson fanned nine and walked one.

Taylor Estes and Moody each had two hits for the Tigers.

Tigers win, tie first day in Arizona

BAHS baseball plays again Tuesday in Glendale

GLENDALE, Ariz. - Broken Arrow High School didn't lose its first game Monday at a round
robin baseball tournament.

But, the Tigers didn't win it, either.

BAHS and Quartz Hill, Calif., settled for a 4-4 tie in the day's first game.

"That was an empty feeling," Tiger assistant coach John Martin said.

But, the Tigers didn't waste any time in their next outing with an 11-0, five-inning run rule of
Highland Ranch, Colo.

"Our guys really were ready to play the second game," said Martin, still somewhat bothered by
the first round's finish. "That first game should have been played out."

BAHS had to rally to forge the tie with Quartz Hill on a sacrifice fly by Lance Rymel after
Spencer Barnett singled, Cale Replogle doubled and J.D. Wood was intentionally walked to
load the bases.

The Californians had taken a 5-4 lead in the top of the fifth on a homer against Tiger reliever
Sam Moses.

A sacrifice fly by Wes Moody accounted for a Tiger run in the fourth and a sacrifice fly by
Wood was good for a run in the fifth.

Junior Morgan Croft started for the Tigers and allowed five hits with four strike outs and four
walks over the first six innings.

Broken Arrow banged out 12 hits - three by Spencer Barnett - and posted its first run-rule of
the season.

The Tigers (3-2-1) scored four runs in the first inning and never were threatened.

Lance Rymel, making his first mound appearance, and Luke Frazier combined on a two-hit
shut out.

Rymel, who missed the first two games of the season with a wrist injury, fanned six and walked
none while giving up just one hit over six innings.

Frazier, his pitching debut, gave up a hit in the seventh.

J.D. Wood got the Tigers off to their quick start with a three-run single in the first inning while
Rymel helped his cause with a single and double.

Wes Moody contributed three RBIs with a single and a double.

BAHS plays hosts O'Connor High School Tuesday morning in its only game of the day.

On Tuesday night, BAHS will watch Arizona State-Arizona play baseball.

The Tigers close their spring break trip with a single game Wednesday against an
unannounced opponent.

BAHS ride timely hits to 7-5 victory in Arizona

Updated 03/18/2008 05:03:04 PM CDT

Tigers 2-0-1 on spring break trip

GLENDALE, Ariz. - John Martin has a simple philosophy about baseball.

"Get 'em on base and knock 'em in," the Broken Arrow High School assistant coach said.

The Tigers did that Tuesday in a 7-5 victory over host O'Connor High School in a round robin
tournament.

"We got timely hits," Martin said after BAHS's second win in three games. "That's the name of
the game."

The Tigers, 2-0-1 on their spring break tour, made the most of eight hits to back the
complete-game pitching effort of Brett Ziegler.

J.D. Wood, Taylor Estes and Cale Replogle each had two hits as BAHS improved to 4-2-1 on
the season.

With the victory, Broken Arrow advanced to Wednesday's title game against an undetermined
opponent.

BAHS struck early and never trailed against the host Eagles.

Wood belted a two-run homer in the first inning after Replogle had singled to score Spencer
Barnett, who had singled and stole second.

The Tigers added two more runs in the second when Replogle delivered a two-run, bases
loaded single after Estes had singled and Mike Samuels reached on a fielders choice.

Estes, the Tiger leadoff batter, was the key ingredient in BAHS scoring single runs in the
fourth and sixth innings.

In the fourth, Estes tripled and scored on a throwing error on the play.

Estes delivered a bases loaded sacrifice fly in the sixth to score Jake Parsons, who had
drawn a walk.

Ziegler (2-0) scattered six hits - including a two-run homer in the top of the seventh to make
things interesting - with eight strike outs and three walks.

The Tigers were expected to watch Arizona State and Arizona - two top-ranked college teams
- play Tuesday night.

After Wednesday's tournament game, BAHS plays Juneau, Ala., Thursday and returns home
Friday.

Tigers finish Arizona trip "unbeaten"
By:

BAHS beats Alaska club, goes 4-0-1 on spring break

GLENDALE, Ariz. - Broken Arrow High School didn't win every game during its spring break here.

"But," Tiger assistant coach John Martin said, "we didn't lose a game, either."

Martin was right. After a tie in the first game of the Eagle Festival Monday, BAHS won its next three
tournament games for the championship.

On Thursday, the Tigers put a capper on their trip with a 6-3 victory over Juneau, Ala.

The game was unaffiliated with the tournament and sent the Tigers home with a 4-0-1 mark.

Senior Luke Frazier pitched four innings and J.D. Wood had two hits to power BAHS to its sixth
victory of the campaign.

Wood was 2-for-2 at the plate with an RBI double while walking and was hit by a pitch.

In a two-run third inning, Wood was hit by a pitch and later scored on one of five Juneau errors.

Errors haunted the Bears in the sixth when a miscue allowed Taylor Schneeberger to reach and
Taylor Estes followed with a run-scoring double.

Frazier scattered five hits with one strikeout and no walks and was charged with two unearned runs.

Sophomore Mason Marquette pitched the fifth and sixth innings without a walk on strikeouts.
Marquette gave up one hit and allowed an unearned run.

Meanwhile, Nick Goza made his varsity mound debut and retired Juneau in order in the seventh with
two strikeouts.

BAHS (6-2-1) returns home to play a Frontier Valley Conference game Tuesday at 4 p.m. at Union.

Tigers win 'ugly' in Arizona tournament final
By:
03/19/2008
Updated 03/19/2008 07:16:04 PM CDT

BAHS commits eight errors, still gets trophy

GLENDALE, Ariz. - For Broken Arrow High School Wednesday, it's a good thing the Eagle Festival
championship wasn't judged as a beauty contest.

"It was pretty ugly," Tiger assistant coach John Martin said.

BAHS committed eight errors, seven behind starting pitcher Taylor Ferguson, and allowed Glendale
Paradise Valley to score seven unearned runs. All that mattered was the scoreboard.

Despite the mistakes, Broken Arrow clawed its way past the Trojans for a 10-9 victory to claim the
round robin title at O'Connor High School. The victory left the Tigers 3-0-1 in the spring break
tournament and atoned for a loss in this tournament's final a year ago.

BAHS plays Juneau, Ala., Thursday morning in a game not associated with the tournament before
returning to Oklahoma Friday.

Junior Sam Moses was credited with the victory in relief but the game wasn't over for what seemed
an eternity to the Tiger bench.

After scoring six runs in the bottom of the sixth for a 10-7 lead, Moses gave up a walk and a home
run in the top of the seventh to make things interesting.

Moses (1-0) struckout the next two Paradise Valley hitters but the Trojans wouldn't go away. A walk
and the eighth error of the contest kept PVHS's hopes alive.

With runners at first and second, Moses got a groundball to shortstop Spencer Barnett, whose low
throw was scooped out of the dirt by first baseman Nick Henningsen for a game-saving play.

BAHS banged out 11 hits against four Paradise Valley pitchers, including back-to-back homers by
Lance Rymel and Wes Moody in the sixth-run sixth.

Rymel, who was 3-for-4, and Moody, who was 3-for-3, combined for seven RBIs.

"Offensively, we're starting to find ourselves," Martin said. "Defense? We've got a whole of lot work
to do."

BAHS sent 10 batters to the plate in sixth to erase a 7-4 deficit.

Cale Replogle drew a leadoff walk, Moody doubled and Rymel followed with a three-run blast.
Moody was the next batter and his solo shot put the Tigers in front, 8-7.

With one out, Jake Parson walked and advanced to second and scored on a basehit by
Henningsen, who was driven on a hit by Spencer Barnett.

Rymel had a double and his homer while Moody had a double to go along with his homer.

Ferguson, after two stellar complete-game efforts before spring break, walked four and fanned five
in five and one-third innings.

"Fergy wasn't as sharp as he'd been," Martin said. "But, our defense didn't give him much help,
either."

BAHS returns to Frontier Valley Conference action Tuesday at 4 p.m. at Union.

Ferguson, Tigers handle Union, 11-1
By: Kevin Henry, Special to the Ledger

Updated 03/25/2008 11:06:41 PM CDT

Broken Arrow on seven-game winning streak

If winning their seventh consecutive game wasn't enough to make the
Broken Arrow Tigers happy on Tuesday afternoon, putting up a decisive
win over a key Frontier Valley Conference rival sure broadened their smiles.

Taylor Ferguson pitched seven strong innings, and Spencer Barnett and
Mike Samuel shined at the plate, as Broken Arrow posted an impressive
11-1 win at Union. The Tigers outhit the Redskins 12 to 4 and looked
sharp on defense as well.

"Any time you can come out with a win against your rival, it's a good day,"
smiled Tiger skipper Shannon Dobson.

Ferguson (2-1) gave the Tigers all the breathing room they needed,
scattering four hits and striking out two. He lost his shutout bid in the sixth
inning when Union's Chase Webb hit a solo home run to left field. Webb
was the only Redskin to have any luck at the plate against Ferguson, going 2-for-3 on the day.

"Taylor did a good job today," Dobson said. "He changed speeds and hit the spots he needed to hit.
Teams don't really get a chance to square up and make solid contact against him."

Two Tigers who made solid contact all day were Barnett and Samuel. Barnett finished 2-for-3 with 3
RBIs, including a two-run single in the fourth, while Samuel had four hits on the day.

"We're really not a physical team, but we'll put the ball in play," Dobson said. "We're playing with a lot
of confidence right now, riding our seven-game win streak. Our goal heading into the year was to get
better as the season went along, and I think we're playing good baseball right now."

Broken Arrow scored a run in each of the first three innings before exploding for three in the fourth
and sixth innings to take a commanding 9-0 lead.

While BAHS's offense was clicking, Ferguson was keeping Union off the bases. Union got its first hit
in the bottom of the third when Joey Heald collected a one-out single. Barnett, however, may have
made the play of the day following that, smothering a one-hopper to shortstop and helping turn a
quick 6-4-3 double play to end the inning.

The double play also ended Union's other serious scoring threat in the fourth when the Redskins had
runners on first and second, but Ferguson enticed Union's Jacob Zinn to hit into a 4-3 twin killing,
ending the inning.

BAHS returns home Thursday at 7:30 p.m. against Edmond Santa Fe in the first day of the
Tiger-Trojan Classic.

Tigers hold off No. 2 Edmond Santa Fe, 7-6

BAHS plays Bishop Kelley, Joplin, Mo., Friday in Tiger-Trojan Classic

Shannon Dobson prefers a five run lead going into the last inning.

It's one of those "just in case they hit a grand slam" scenarios, the Broken Arrow High School
baseball coach said.

Four runs was enough - just barely - for the Tigers Thursday night.

BAHS survived a fierce comeback by No. 2-ranked Edmond Santa Fe and hung on for a 7-6
victory in the Tiger-Trojan Classic at Tiger Field.

It marked the eighth straight game without a loss for No. 8-ranked Broken Arrow after an 0-2 start,
with a tie in Arizona the only blip.

The Wolves suffered only their second loss in 16 games but made a made dash at the finish.

Santa Fe scored three times with one out in the bottom of the seventh but BAHS lefthander Brett
Ziegler weathered the storm.

A three-run homer by Josh Rosecrans - the Santa Fe catcher's second in as many at-bats against
Ziegler - sliced the Tiger lead to 7-6.

Ziegler (3-0) ended the game with back-to-back strikeouts, getting defensive help from his catcher
Lance Rymel, who made throws to first baseman Josh Moses after swinging third strikes.

The Tigers pushed their lead to 7-3 in the top of the seventh when courtesy runner Nick
Henningsen scored from second base on a single by Wes Moody.

Henningsen was inserted after Rymel had doubled with two outs and was ruled after on a close
play at the plate.

Ziegler (3-0) went the distance, giving up 11 hits - including the two homers to Rosecrans - with six
strikeouts and no walks.

"Zig gutted it out," Dobson said. "Every time he pitches, he gives us a chance to win."

The Tiger defense didn't commit an error and turned a 5-4-3 double play in the second inning.

BAHS scored six runs against Santa Fe starter Kenny Herman in three and two-thirds inning.

Riding a gusty north wind, the Tigers got solo homers from Taylor Estes to open the game and
Taylor Schneeberger in the second inning.

Rymel belted a two-run homer in the fourth that gave BAHS?a 4-1 lead.

"We beat a good club tonight," Dobson said. "This was a good win for us. Our guys have kind of
surprised me."

In other games at BAHS Thursday, Santa Fe run-ruled Tulsa Memorial (9-0) after Memorial had
waxed Edmond Memorial, 11-3.

On Friday at BAHS, the Tigers play Bishop Kelley at 2:30 p.m. and Joplin, Mo., at 7:30 p.m. Tulsa
Memorial plays Joplin at 5 p.m.

Tigers win two "road games" at home

BAHS holds off Kelley, 7-5; rocks Joplin, Mo., 9-2

Broken Arrow High School hasn't played a "home" game since March 8.

And, includes the last three games when BAHS has hosted the Tiger-Trojan Classic.

In those three tournament games, the Tigers have been the visitors in their home park.

That hasn't seemed to bother BAHS, which won all three contests, including Bishop Kelley (7-5)
and Joplin, Mo., (9-2), Friday.

BAHS (10-2-1) faces Tulsa Memorial at noon Saturday and victory would put the Tigers in
Saturday's 6 p.m. championship.

The final could be a rematch with No. 2-ranked Edmond Santa Fe, which BAHS beat, 7-6, Thursday.

Senior Brett Ziegler played a role in all three Tiger victories.

He pitched a complete-game against Edmond Santa Fe and had a key single in a five-run inning
against Bishop?Kelley.

Ziegler, better known as "Zig" to his coaches and teammates, saved his best for Joplin - a two-run
homer in the second inning.

It was his first varsity homer of his career.

"It didn't know it would get out of the park," Ziegler said, smiling. "When it did, that was a great
feeling. Finally, I hit one."

As he toured the bases, Ziegler put on a mask.

"I tried to act like I had done that before," he said, grinning. "On the inside, I was really excited."

Lance Rymel had a two-run homer in the fifth to highlight a 3-for-4 performance that included two
doubles and three RBIs.

The Tigers pounded out 10 hits against two Eagle pitchers and sent 10 batters to the plate in the
third inning.

Senior Luke Frazier (2-0) pitched the first five innings and allowed five hits, both runs with five
strikeouts and no walks.

Tigers 7, Bishop Kelley 5

Broken Arrow High School baseball kept its hockey-like record intact Friday afternoon.

The Tigers, with a shaky 7-5 victory over Bishop Kelley in the Tiger-Trojan Classic, has not lost in
its last nine games.

Since an 0-2 start to open the season, BAHS hasn't lost since a 2-0 decision to Enid on March 8.

However, it's not been a perfect stretch. The Tigers (9-2-1) were saddled with a tie during a spring
break tournament in Glendale, Ariz., but have reeled off seven consecutive victories.

The last two - including a 7-6 win over Edmond Santa Fe Thursday night - haven't been pretty.

In both games, BAHS had seemingly comfortable leads going into the bottom of the seventh. In
both cases, the Tigers were lucky.

Against Santa Fe, BAHS had a 7-3 lead after six and a half innings. Kelley, without head coach
Scott Ellis, was down 7-2 going into its last at-bat.

The Comets rocked Tiger reliever Nick Goza for four hits and three runs - all coming off a homer by
Matt Reynolds - to pull within striking distance. Kelley had the tying run at the plate when Goza got
his only strikeout to end the game.

"We can't be doing these things in the seventh innings," BAHS coach Shannon Dobson said. "In
these situations, we've got to shut people down."

Kelley starter Joseph Richards had limited the Tigers to two unearned runs through the first six
innings before running into trouble in the top of the seventh.

It started on basehits by Taylor Schneeberger and Brett Ziegler and Mike Samuel reached on
fielder's choice to load the bases.

BAHS broke the 2-2 stalemate with a groundout to score Schneeberger before Spencer Barnett
chased Richards with an RBI single.

Comet reliever Jake O'Brien then gave up run scoring singles to Cale Replogle and Wes Moody.

Morgan Croft (3-1) pitched the first six innings for BAHS was credited with the decision with six
strikeouts and three walks.

Santa Fe ends Broken Arrow's winning streak, 8-0

No. 2-ranked Wolves win Tiger-Trojan Classic

Broken Arrow High School's nine-game winning streak come to an abrupt halt Saturday night.

The Tigers were stifled by Edmond Santa Fe righthander Josh Rosecrans, who limited BAHS to
just a first-inning single, enroute to an 8-0 run-rule victory in the finals of the Tiger-Trojan Classic
at Tiger Field.

The loss for the Tigers (11-3-2) actually ended a string of 10 consecutive games in which Broken
Arrow had not tasted defeat. In all three losses, BAHS has been shutout.

Before compiling its nine straight wins, the team had battled to a tie in a contest during a recent
spring break trip to Arizona.

Prior to the setback to Santa Fe, the last loss for Broken Arrow was a 2-0 blanking at the hands of
Enid on March 8.

"We have played hard and battled well in the last 10 games," BAHS coach Shannon Dobson said.
"But tonight we just weren't ready to play."

Edmond Santa Fe (17-2) jumped on Broken Arrow from the start as the Wolves' Jordan Lopez
blasted the first pitch of the game from Tiger starter Taylor Ferguson (2-2) over the 350-foot sign
in center field.

Ferguson, who suffered the team's last loss in the shutout to Enid, allowed four hits and
surrendered seven walks, along with a hit batsman, in four innings.

"Taylor didn't have his best stuff tonight," Dobson said. "But then we haven't been giving him
much run support either."

Ferguson, a transfer from Muskogee High School, allowed six runs in his four-inning stint. Four of
those runs, however, were unearned thanks in part to three Broken
Arrow errors. Another Wolves' run scored on a passed ball.

"You have to make the plays, particularly when you are going against a guy like him (Rosecrans),"
Dobson said.

Rosecrans (5-0), who issued one walk and fanned two, faced the minimum 15 batters in going the
distance on the mound.

The only hit he allowed was an infield single to Tiger leadoff hitter Taylor Estes in the bottom of
the first inning.

But Estes was wiped out on the first of two double plays turned by the Wolves. The only other
Tiger baserunner was picked off first base by the Santa Fe senior righthander.

Nick Goza tossed the final inning for Broken Arrow. The righthander allowed two hits, including
Rosecrans' two-run homer that gave Santa Fe its 8-0 lead.

Beside his home run, Rosecrans scored twice and drew three walks. One walk drove in a run in
the Wolves' three-run third inning.

Broken Arrow remains home Wednesday at 4 p.m. against Tulsa Washington in a non-conference
game.

BAHS uses 11-hits in non-conference triumph

Spencer Barnett, Lance Rymel and Brett Ziegler each had two
hits and Mike Samuels had three RBIs as Broken Arrow High
School bested Mother Nature and Tulsa Washington Wednesday
afternoon in non-conference baseball.

BAHS banged out 11 hits and posted a 7-2, rain-shortened,
non-conference victory over BTW.

The game was stopped in the bottom of the fifth inning after a
steady rain had pelted Tiger Field since the second inning.

Rymel had two RBIs while Barnett scored three times as BAHS
improved to 12-3-1.

Senior Luke Frazier and sophomore Tyler Kjellsen combined
on a six-hitter.

Frazier (3-1) pitched the first three innings and was charged
with all six hits and both of the Hornets run.

Kjellsen, in his varsity debut, struck out one and walked one in two innings.

Washington touched Frazier for five of its hits and both runs in the first two frames. An
inning-endind double play in the second kept Frazier out of further trouble.

BAHS, down 2-1, batted around an scored five times in the bottom of third to take command.

Samuels' three RBIs came on a bases loaded double in that frame.

BAHS is scheduled to host Berryhill Thursday at 7 p.m. and travel to Sapulpa Friday at 4 p.m.

BAHS doesn't convert on seventh-inning chance

SAPULPA - Broken Arrow High School had its chance to rally Friday but Sapulpa weathered a
seventh-inning storm for a 4-2 victory over the No. 4-ranked Tigers in non-conference baseball.

BAHS had the bases loaded with one out in the top of the last inning and managed to score just
once against Chieftain reliever Caleb Taylor.

Brett Ziegler grounded into a fielder's choice to score Mike Samuels and cut the SHS lead to
4-3. But Taylor got Cale Replogle to ground out to end the game.

Sapulpa rocked Ziegler, the Tiger starting pitcher, for a 3-1 lead after the third inning and BAHS
never caught up.
Ziegler gave up eight hits and all four Sapulpa runs - all earned - in the first four innings.

Morgan Croft and Josh Moses pitched the last three innings for BAHS and allowed just two hits
between them.

Taylor was credited with a save and Sapulpa starter Ricky Creason was the winner.

BAHS hosts Muskogee at 4 p.m. Wednesday before entertaining a wood bat tournament April
10-12.

Croft tosses 2-hitter in BAHS's 5-0 victory against Sapulpa

Dropping to fifth in the batting order was good for J.D. Wood.

The senior delivered a two-run single in the first inning that helped propel
Broken Arrow High School to a 5-0 victory over Sapulpa in the Wood Bat
Tournament at Tiger Field.

It came one game too late.

Unable to get a key hit, BAHS was beaten, 3-0, by Tulsa Memorial in its
first game Friday.

The Tigers (13-5-1) stranded six base runners - four of them in scoring
position - against Memorial's Drew Bowen, who gave up four hits and
struck out 10, over six innings.

Charger ace Ron Reed, who started at third base, pitched the seventh
and added two more strike outs.

Of the dozen strike outs, eight of them came against Broken Arrow's first
batters in the lineup - Marcus Terry (1), Spencer Barnett (2),
Lance Rymel (2) and Wood (3).

BAHS rebounded against Sapulpa, which had beaten the Tigers, 4-2,
seven days earlier.

The Tigers - who have been shut out in four of their five losses - matched their hit total in the Memorial
game in one inning against the Chieftains.

Barnett and Wes Moody, the new cleanup batter, singled and both scored when Wood laced a basehit.

Wood scored when Rymel, bumped down to the six-hole, followed with another hit against Sapulpa
starter Caleb Taylor.

Barnett scored in the third inning on an error and BAHS tacked on its final run in the fifth when Taylor
Estes scored on a single by Moody.

Meanwhile, Morgan Croft mastered Sapulpa on a sparkling two-hitter with 10 strikeouts and two walks.

Sapulpa's only two hits against Croft (2-1) were singles by Joe Sims.

BAHS senior Brett Ziegler pitched well enough to win in Memorial game.

Ziegler allowed eight hits and two earned runs with four strikeouts and two walks.

Memorial (13-9) pushed across an unearned run in the first inning, got an RBI single from Jared
Hansen in the fifth and a sacrifice fly by Bowen in the sixth.

Owasso outlasts Broken Arrow, 1-0, in 12 innings
By: Doug Quinn, Sports Editor

Updated 04/12/2008 10:22:04 PM CDT

Two errors costly to Tigers

Something had to give.

Broken Arrow and Owasso had played a classic baseball game through 11 and a half innings Saturday.

What gave was the Tiger defense.

Two errors in the bottom of the 12th allowed the No. 1-ranked and undefeated Rams to escape with a
1-0 victory in the Wood Bat Tournament.

This was the first of three meeting between the two schools over the next six days.

They play a Frontier Valley Conference game Tuesday at 7 p.m. at Owasso and square off Friday at
7:30 p.m. at Drillers Stadium.

Playing the defending state champions on even terms wasn't a consolation to BAHS coach Shannon
Dobson.

"You've got to win these games," Dobson said. "You've got to make plays and get clutch hits.
The bottom line is winning. We didn't do it."

Spectacular pitching from both teams gave the game a post-season feeling.

Owasso starter Bryan Flynn showed why he's among the state's premier hurlers by pitching 10, shut out
innings with 13 strike outs.

BAHS starter Taylor Ferguson pitched 7 2/3 innings with eight strike outs.

Neither Flynn or Ferguson figured in the decision.

Owasso's Tyler Sparks pitched the 11th and 12th and retired the six Tiger batters he faced in order with
three strike outs.

Sparks was matched by an equal relief performance by BAHS's Lance Rymel, who was the hard-luck
loser.

Rymel, the Tigers' starting catcher, pitched 3 2/3 innings with six strike outs and one unearned run.

Owasso punched across the game winner in the 12th after two costly Tiger miscues kept the inning alive.

With the bases loaded and one out, James Stanfield - the Ram's four-hole hitter - put down a bunt.

A hard-charging Rymel tried to make a bare-handed scoop but couldn't make the play, allowing Cody
Carpenter to score the game-winner.

The game nearly ended in the bottom of the eighth.

Owasso pinch hitter Brandon Bargas, the first batter Rymel faced, slapped single to left field.

Austin Kirk tried to score from second base but Tiger leftfielder J.D. Wood's one-hop throw to catcher
Mitch Osburn - who had just entered the game for Rymel - made the tag.

Kelley "finishes" Broken Arrow, 6-3
By: Doug Quinn, Sports Editor
04/14/2008
Updated 04/14/2008 09:18:50 PM CDT

Tigers can't protect three-run lead in seventh inning

In athletics, a contemporary term is "finishing."

Broken Arrow High School didn't finish Monday.

The Tigers squandered a three-run lead in the seventh inning and
lost 6-3 to Bishop Kelley in non-conference baseball action at Tiger
Field.

It marked the second straight loss and the fourth setback in Broken
Arrow's last six games.

BAHS starter Sam Moses had a 3-0 cushion going into the top of
the seventh and appeared to be cruising.

Instead, the walls collapsed around the junior.

Moses had retired the eight previous Comets in order when Kelley's
Tyler Thalken greeted him with solo homer to start the seventh.

Moses then walked Laurent Zenoni and fanned Chase Brookover.

Kelley (11-8) then grabbed the momentum when Axel Johnson
looped a base hit over Tiger third baseman Mike Samuels and
shortstop Spencer Barnett.

Moses was lifted with runners at first and second and one out for
sophomore Mason Marquette.

Marquette walked Chris O'Brien to load the bases and gave up a two-run single to Matt Reynolds
that tied the game at 3-3.

Marquette was replaced by Kjellsen, who surrendered a go-ahead single to Jack Kerr and then
balked home Reynolds for the 6-3 margin.

Marquette was tagged with the loss.

The Tigers pushed across a first inning run when Taylor Estes singled and scored on a sacrifice fly
by Lance Rymel.

BAHS made it 3-0 in the third on back-to-back doubles by Rymel and J.D. Wood.

Broken Arrow had a chance to break the game open in the fifth inning but didn't capitalize.

The Tigers had the bases loaded when Reynolds - the Comets' third pitcher - got Wood to ground
into an inning-ending, 1-2-3 double play.

After that, Reynolds retired BAHS in order in the sixth and seventh innings with four grounders and
two strike outs.

BAHS plays a Frontier Valley Conference game Tuesday at 7 p.m. at Owasso, which beat the
Tigers, 1-0, in 12 innings Saturday.

Homer by Terry propels BAHS to 8-3 victory in nine innings

OWASSO - This time there wasn't an extra-inning collapse for Broken Arrow High School.

Marcus Terry's three-run homer highlighted a five-run ninth inning as the Tigers stunned top-ranked
and defending Class 6A state champ Owasso, 8-3, in a Frontier Conference baseball battle Tuesday
night at Stigall Field

The loss was the first of the season for the Rams after opening the spring with 23 straight victories.

The Tigers' extra-inning avenged a 1-0, 12-inning loss to the Rams Saturday night in the Wood Bat
Tournament final at Tiger Field. A pair of Tiger errors in the final inning helped doom BAHS in that
contest.

These two teams play again Friday at 7:30 p.m. at Drillers Stadium in the rubber match.

But on this night, Broken Arrow (15-7) came up with the key plays to turn the tables on Owasso.
None was bigger than the three-run blast by Terry, his first home run of the season.

One-out singles in the ninth inning by pinch hitter Dylan Delso and Mike Samuel followed by an RBI
single by Cale Replogle produced a 4-3 BAHS lead and set the stage for Terry.

Terry, the Tigers' leadoff hitter, smashed a 2-1 fast ball from Owasso reliever Tyler Sparks (3-1)
over the left centerfield fence to give Broken Arrow some breathing room at 7-3.

"I went to the plate initially to just try and move the runners up," the senior center fielder said. "But
then I
thought I might try to put it over the fence. This is a great feeling. We haven't defeated Owasso for a
long time, not since I was in the ninth grade."

Terry also had a sacrifice bunt to help set up the Tigers' go-ahead run that gave Broken Arrow a 3-2
lead in the eighth inning.

In addition, Terry opened the game with a single, stole second base then scored the Tigers' first run
on a double by Spencer Barnett, who had an RBI double to drive in BAHS's eighth-inning run.

The game featured a pair of sparkling performances from starting pitchers Morgan Croft of Broken
Arrow and Ryan Prickett of Owasso.

Prickett went seven innings, allowing just five hits while striking out 11. The lefthander departed in
favor of Sparks after opening the eight inning by hitting Cale Replogle with a pitch.

Meanwhile, Croft permitted seven hits and just one earned run while fanning nine in seven innings.

"Morgan was around the strike zone all night," Broken Arrow coach Shannon Dobson said.

Owasso stranded 10 runners in the first five innings against Croft, a righthander. He allowed a solo
home run to Owasso's James Stanfield to lead off the fifth inning that knotted the game at 2-2.

After the Tigers had taken a 3-2 lead in the top of the eighth inning, Brett Ziegler (4-2) allowed a solo
home run to the Rams' Caleb Compton in the home half of the inning that deadlocked the game
once again.

After BAHS's ninth-inning outburst, righthander Jon Moore pitched the bottom of the inning getting
three strikeouts to wrap up the Tigers' victory.

"It was just a couple of good ball clubs going at it," Dobson said. "It was a real competitive game. It
always seems to come down to one or two play when the two of us meet.
"Both starting pitchers did outstanding jobs and each gave his team a chance to win. We were able
to string together some big hits there at the end to pick up the win."

Barnett's seventh-inning
single gives Tigers the
victory

Broken Arrow High School
baseball coach Shannon
Dobson met senior
Spencer Barnett halfway
between home plate and
third base.

His message was short.

"I told Spencer 'This is what
we live for! This is why we
play. How could you not
want to be a part of this?"
Dobson said.

Barnett didn't say a word.

His answer came a moment
later with a base hit Barnett
will remember for the rest of his life.

Barnett ripped a two-out, bases-loaded single in the bottom of the
seventh, lifting the sixth-ranked Tigers to a thrilling 4-3 victory over
No. 1 Owasso Friday night at Drillers Stadium.

It marked BAHS's second straight victory over the defending state
champions in four days and gave the Tigers a 2-1 edge in a
best-of-three series. For Owasso, it was the Rams' second straight
loss after 23 consecutive victories.

Perhaps best, this game didn't go extra innings.

On April 12, Owasso won, 1-0, in 12 innings. On Tuesday, BAHS
evened the score with an 8-3, nine- inning decision in Owasso.

All four BAHS runs came with two outs against Brian Flynn,
Owasso's heralded left-hander.

"Our kids really clutched up in those situations," Dobson said.
"It's great when you can do this against the really good clubs
like Owasso."

In the seventh, Flynn had registered strike outs No. 13 and
No. 14 to open the bottom of the inning.

Dobson may have sensed something was about to happen.

"His (Flynn) pitch count was getting up there," Dobson said. "He had lost some of his velocity."

Cale Replogle, the nine-hole hitter for the Tigers, started the rally with a single and Marcus Terry
drew a walk.

Then Taylor Estes was hit by a pitch on his left hip to load the bases.

"That's what 90 feels like," Estes said, grinning and indicating the point of impact.

That set the table for Barnett.

"Coach Dobson told me to go win this one for us," Barnett said. "I knew I was going to get a good
pitch. When I did, I hit it."

Barnett's single to center field scored Replogle and a celebration erupted on the field.

"This was a big win for our confidence," Barnett said. "Now we know we are capable of beating good
teams."

Lance Rymel relieved BAHS starter Taylor Ferguson to start the top of the seventh and was
credited with the victory.

Rymel produced BAHS's first run with a first inning triple after Barnett had drawn a two-out walk.

J.D. Wood delivered a two-run single in third after Estes walked and Barnett singled.

In both innings, the Tigers came to life after Flynn and struck out the first two batters.

Flynn, during his 10 innings nearly a week ago, had 13 strikeouts.

Ferguson allowed five hits with six strike outs and one walk in six innings.

BAHS returns home Saturday at 1 p.m. against Bartlesville in a non-conference game.

Dobson may have good reason to be concerned about his club's mental state.

After the 12 inning loss, Bishop Kelley knocked off the Tigers, 6-3, the day before Broken Arrow
won at Owasso.

Following Saturday, the Tigers entertain Sand Springs at 6 p.m. for senior night.

BAHS made have made its 'mark' with victory over Bartlesville

Tigers pin Bruins, 6-3, only hours
after beating Owasso

Broken Arrow High School's 6-3
victory Saturday afternoon wasn't
so much playing Bartlesville as it
was playing against itself.

"I told our guys the mark of a
championship team is how it
responds after an emotional
game, win or lose," Tiger coach
Shannon Dobson said.

Sixth-ranked BAHS was in that
precarious state on this sun-filled
afternoon at Tiger Field.

Only 14 hours earlier, the Tigers
had knocked off rival Owasso, 4-3,
in seven innings at Drillers Stadium.

"That certainly was an emotional
game," Dobson said. "Plus, it was a
late game and we had come back
early to play again."

The Tigers didn't ace Dobson's test but passed.

"We made mistakes we've got to get ironed out," Dobson said. "Those were the mistakes you can't
afford to make.

"When you get into regional and state tournaments, you have an emotional win but still have to play
another game with that same emotion."

It was the 18-7 Tigers' third straight victory.

If the Tigers needed a pick-me-up they got it from freshman Nick Pettus, who doubled home the first
run and doubled in the last two, and senior J.D. Wood, who belted a two-run homer.

Pettus, making only his second varsity start at second base, drove home Wes Moody, who had been
hit by a pitch, in the second.

Wood capped a three-run third with his homer after Taylor Estes had been hit by a pitch for a second
straight game.

Estes, a senior, was hit by an Owasso pitch to load the bases in the seventh Friday night, setting the
stage for Spencer Barnett's game-winning single.

BAHS's first run of the third was bizarre when the Bruins committed three errors on the same play,
allowing Marcus Terry to score from first.

The Tigers extended their lead to 6-1 in the fifth when catcher Lance Rymel doubled and Mike
Samuel walked. Pettus followed Samuel with his second double.

BAHS never trailed as starter John Michael Moore went the first six innings.

The senior (2-0) gave up six hits with five strike outs and three walks.

Two relief pitchers - Sam Moses and Brett Ziegler - pitched the seventh when the Bruins scored twice
and threatened a comeback.

An error and a fielders choice accounted for both Bartlesville runs in the seventh before Moses was
lifted with two outs and two runners aboard.

Ziegler was summoned, got a game-ending strikeout on four pitches and was credited with a save.

The Tigers host Sand Springs Monday at 6 p.m. for senior night in a non-conference game.

If a baseball team is going
to pick its time to play well,
this is it - the final week of
the regular season.

Broken Arrow High School
was mired in a miserable
slump two weeks when its
had lost four of six.

The Tigers have busted
loose.

"We are beginning to play
our best," Tiger coach
Shannon Dobson said.

His statement came
Monday night, moments
after BAHS's 11-1
run-ruling of Sand Springs
at Tiger Field in a
non-conference game.

The Tigers (18-7) have won four straight and six of their last nine games.

BAHS tests its hot hand Thursday at 7 p.m. hosting Jenks.

The regular season concludes Saturday with home games at 1 p.m. against Springdale, Ark., Har-Ber
and 7 p.m. against Union.

"Finally, our guys are starting to understand what we want done," Dobson said. "We are beginning to
execute our game."

BAHS banged out 13 hits - led by Wes Moody and Brett Ziegler with two apiece - while Luke Frazier
pushed his record to 4-0.

Ziegler drove home three runs and capped the game with a two-run triple in the sixth.

In a four-run sixth, BAHS pinch hitters Josh Moses, Mitch Osburn and Alex Cochran delivered three
hits and scored three runs.

Moses doubled and Osburn singled and both scored on a triple by Cochran.

Ziegler's three-bagger chased home Mike Samuels, who had singled.

Other key Tiger hits were a two-run single by Marcus Terry in the second and a two-run single by
Moody in the third.

Frazier allowed five hits with two strikeouts and no walks over five innings.

Wood's two hits, two runs fuel BAHS past Jenks, 3-1

J.D. Wood was in the right places at the right times for No. 3-ranked
Broken Arrow High School Thursday night.

The senior had two hits and scored both times as BAHS held off the
sixth-ranked Trojans, 3-1, at Tiger Field.

BAHS, in winning its fifth straight, improved to 19-8 while Jenks,
coached by former Tiger assistant Rusty Zumwalt, is 22-9.

Broken Arrow continues its homestand Saturday at 1 p.m. against
Springdale, Ark., Har-Ber and 7 p.m. against Union to complete the
regular season.

The Tigers host a Class 6A regional beginning Tuesday, meeting
Putnam City at 4 p.m. in a first round game.

In a 1-1 contest, Wood had a one out single in the fourth inning.

After a stolen base and walk to Wes Moody, freshman Nick Pettus
set off a change of events with two outs.

Pettus hit a sharp grounder to deep short, where Jenks' Mark Ginther made a spectacular play to
keep the ball on the infield.

Wood scored on the play and Moody raced home from second when Ginther's throw to first base
missed the mark.

In the second, Wood laced a one-out double and Mike Samuel chased home wood with a two-out
single.

Morgan Croft started for the Tigers and pitched the first four innings, as planned by the BAHS
coaches.

Croft (3-1) left with the two-run advantage and while senior lefthander Taylor Ferguson entered the
top of seventh.

Ferguson, in a tuneup for the regional opener, struck out five of the nine Trojans he faced and was
credited with his first save.

Union snaps Tigers' winning streak in regular season finale

BAHS strands 12 in 4-2 loss, sets eyes on Tuesday's regional

Broken Arrow High School coach Shannon Dobson hopes what he saw Saturday afternoon won't
become a sudden trend for his baseball team at this crucial point of the season.

The Tigers managed just three hits and stranded 12 runners and yet took Union to the wire before
falling 4-2 at Tiger Field in the regular season finale for both teams.

Third-ranked Broken Arrow (19-8), which saw its five-game winning streak ended, hosts a Class 6A
regional tournament Tuesday, playing Putnam City at 4 p.m.

"This team has played great all year," said Dobson just a few minutes after his team's setback against
the No. 14 Redskins (20-13). "Really, this game doesn't have a lot of bearing on postseason. On
Tuesday, a whole new season begins."

BAHS managed just three hits, all singles, against a trio of Redskin pitchers.

But the Tigers, taking advantage of eight walks, three hit batsman and three Redskin fielding errors,
still tallied a pair of unearned runs and had good scoring opportunities in each of the last four innings.

But they couldn't come up with the key hit to overtake Union, which won its third straight game.

"We left some guys on base. But, normally, we have been bringing those runners home in games,"
Dobson said.

"I feel good about this club. This is a scrappy group. They have a lot of fight in them."

After Union scored a run off Tiger starter John Michael Moore in the first inning, BAHS responded
against Union starter Stephen Spurlock in the home half of the frame.

Leadoff hitter Marcus Terry, who reached base in all four of his plate appearances and scored both
Tiger runs, was safe at first on the first of three Redskin field errors in the game.

With Cale Replogle at bat, Terry stole second base then continued to third on a throwing error by
Redskin catcher Buddy Shanks.

From there, Terry scored on Replogle's bouncer to shortstop.

Union then scored three runs off Brett Ziegler (4-3), the first of three Tiger relievers, to take a 4-1 lead
entering the bottom of the fourth inning.

That's when BAHS's inability to get clutch hits started to arise.

A walk and the Tigers' first hit of the game by Mike Samuels with two out in the fourth went for naught.

In the fifth, BAHS loaded the bases, ending the day for Spurlock, and scored one run when Redskin
relief pitcher Mitch Alspaugh (3-1) issued a walk to J.D. Wood to force in a run.

The run brought BA to within 4-2. But a ground out ended that Tiger threat.

Taylor Estes singled and Terry was hit by a pitch, his second of the game, to put two runners on board
with two out in the sixth. But Replogle lined to left field to end the inning.

After Union turned a double play in the bottom of the seventh inning, the Tigers mounted one more
scoring opportunity against Union righthander Chase Webb.

A single by Wes Moody, sandwiched around walks to Wood and Samuels, loaded the bases.

But Nick Pettus lofted an infield fly on the right side to end the game.

Sam Moses and Lance Rymel combined for three scoreless innings on the mound. Four Tiger hurlers
combined to allow eight hits and struck out nine in the pitching by committee approach.

"We were trying to get ready for Tuesday more than anything else," Dobson said.

Samuels, Wood and Spencer Barnett each drew a pair of walks for the Tigers.

Ferguson, Tigers win regional baseball opener, 6-0
By: Doug Quinn, Sports Editor

Updated 04/29/2008 07:29:11 PM CDT

BAHS plays Sand Springs
Wednesday

Taylor Ferguson has pitched
better in his one season at
Broken Arrow High School.

Tuesday's opener against
Putnam City in the Class 6A
regional baseball tournament
at Tiger Field didn't compare
in many ways.

But, this wasn't a beauty
contest.

The left-handed Ferguson
endured a slow start but
finished fast with a two-hitter
in a 6-0 victory over the
Pirates (18-17).

What counted to Ferguson
was advancing to Wednesday's 4 p.m. winner's bracket
game against Sand Springs, a 3-0 winner over Stillwater in
the other first round game.

"You don't want to come through the loser's bracket,"
Ferguson said. "That's hard to do."

By winning, No. 3-ranked BAHS improved to 20-8.

Now 3-2, Ferguson averaged 2.88 walks in his first nine
appearances.

Against Putnam City, he issued four free passes - all in the
first four innings. Stranded five Pirates in the first two innings
while working around two errors.

"I was having a hard time finding my rhythm early," said
Ferguson, who tossed his fifth complete-game and lowered
his earned run average to 1.84. "I relied on my defense and they did the job."

Nursing a 2-0 lead in the bottom of the sixth, Ferguson faced trouble when Putnam City's Garen
Wright spoiled a no-hitter with a leadoff single.

A catcher's interference call on BAHS's Lance Rymel put Pirates at first and second with no outs.

BAHS coach Shannon Dobson didn't hit the panic button.

"When Taylor puts guys on, he seems to get out of it," Dobson said.

That played out.

Ferguson got Collin Self to ground into a double play, which need two spectacular efforts.

First, freshman second baseman Nick Pettus ranged far to his right to make the play and make an
underhanded toss to the bag.

There, shortstop Spencer Barnett made a barehanded grab and fired to first baseman Cale Replogle
for the second out.

"When you're pitching," said Ferguson, who finished with four walks and five strike outs, "those are
the kind of plays you hope for."

BAHS put the game out of reach with five runs in the top of the seventh against PCHS lefty Andrew
Heaney, who Dobson called "as good as we've seen and he's just a junior."

The Tigers got five of their 10 hits in their last at-bat, keyed by a two-run single by Replogle and a
two-run double by Rymel.

"We did a pretty good job of working the count against him (Heaney)," Dobson said. "In the later
innings, his pitch-count was getting up there and his velocity was coming down."

Heaney fanned nine, walked one, uncorked two wild pitches and hit two batters while being charged
with four earned runs.

BAHS pushed across an unearned run in the third and Wes Moody had an RBI single in the sixth for
a 2-0 lead.

BAHS nudges past Sand Springs, 5-4, in error-plagued
game

Shannon Dobson knew his third-ranked Broken Arrow High
School baseball team was lucky Wednesday.

But, good fortune is better than a loss.

His Tigers outlasted scrappy Sand Springs, 5-4, in an
anything-but-pretty Class 6A regional winner's bracket
game at Tiger Field.

The contest was marred by five errors which accounted for
eight of the nine runs being unearned.

"I told the team 'It didn't matter how we did it, we still won and
that's what is important this time of year," Dobson said.
"There is a lot of pressure in this game and both teams made
mistakes."

Cale Replogle scored the game-winner in the bottom of the
seventh on a throwing error, pushing the Tigers within one
victory of the state tournament.

BAHS (21-8) plays Stillwater Thursday at 4 p.m. for the
regional title. A Stillwater victory would force the
if-necessary game.
The Pioneers eliminated Sand Springs, 7-6, after trailing 6-0
in the first inning. In a similar ending to the BAHS-Sand
Springs game, Stillwater scored the game-winner on a bases
loaded, infield grounder.
The Tigers' only RBI came in the sixth inning when Taylor Estes lined a two-out, 0-2 single to center
to score Mike Samuel to forge a 4-4 tie.

Samuel's hit came against Sandite reliever Andrew Barnett, who was victimized by two SSHS errors -
one of them by him - in the bottom of the seventh.

After Tiger starter and winner Morgan Croft retired the Sandites in order in the top of the seventh, the
Tigers punched across the game-winner without a hit.

Barnett walked Replogle to open the frame and BAHS's Spencer Barnett - no relation - bunted.

On the play, Andrew Barnett attempted to get Replogle at second base but his throw was wide and
both runners were safe.

BAHS catcher Lance Rymel then sacrificed the runners to scoring position and the Sandites
intentionally walked J.D. Wood to load the bases.

Wes Moody then hit a dribbler and Sandite shortstop Robby Keith tried to get the force out at home
on Replogle but his throw was errant.

Three Sand Springs errors in the fourth inning opened the gates for BAHS to score three runs and
take a 3-2 lead.

But, the Tigers gave the lead right back in the top of the fifth on a throwing error by Rymel, two
misplayed grounders and an RBI single by Scotty Hart.

Dobson said the Tigers responded in the clutch.

"We've played a number of one-run games and won most of them," Dobson said. "Being in those tight
games probably helped."

Croft went the distance and upped his record to 3-1 with one strike out and one walk.

Sand Springs starter Corbun Frazier allowed five hits with two strike outs and four walks.
